1. Gunmen suspected to be militants of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) held the convoy of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State hostage on Tuesday. The incident happened as the attackers disrupted the campaign rally of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at Odata Secondary School in Ihiala Local Government Area of the State.

2. A United Nations (UN) official has ranked Nigeria lowest in the world in the area of allocating elective and leadership positions to women. Angela Muruli, the Programme Analyst of UN Women, said this during an interview with journalists during the inauguration of the Network of Young Women in Politics, on Tuesday.

3. Some students of St. Albertine Seminary School, Fayit, Fadan Kagoma Chiefdom in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been abducted. The Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, ASP Muhammed Jalige confirmed the attack.

4. After months of bashings from the public over their resolution on electronic transmission of election results, the Senate on Tuesday rescinded its decision. This is coming after the Senate in July, passed the Electoral Act Amendment bill with provisions which allowed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to transmit election results electronically after getting green light on network coverage from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and approval from the National Assembly.

5. Embattled actor, Chiwetalu Agu who was arrested by the DSS hours after he was released by soldiers last week has been released. The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie , Emeka Rollas confirmed this development in a statement on Tuesday.

6. Following the deplorable conditions of roads in many parts of the country, the Senate has called on the federal government to immediately declare a state of emergency on federal roads and improve its funding for their maintenance. The resolutions were sequel to a motion titled, “Nigeria’s bad roads and NUPENG’s impending nationwide strike” sponsored by Senator Gershom Bassey.

7. The Zamfara State House of Assembly has suspended two lawmakers over their alleged ties to bandits. The lawmakers – Yusuf Muhammad, Anka representing Anka Constituency, and Ibrahim T. Tukur Bakura, representing Bakura constituency – were suspended for three months.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, approved the appointment of Dr Ezra Yakusak as the new Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Export Promotion Council, NEPC. The development was contained in a statement issued and made available to newsmen on Tuesday night by the president’s spokesman, Garba Shehu.

9. No fewer than 50 gunmen have allegedly invaded the Nasarawa State Local Government Service Commission and went away with a safe box where valuables of the commission are kept and one AK-47 rifle belonging to an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Rammatu Julde, made the disclosure while speaking with reporters on Tuesday in Lafia.

10. The 15 members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Tuesday converged on Abuja for high-level consultations to forge a common ground to ease migration difficulties in the region. The three-day event is intended to find ways to ease migration and trade difficulties among the member states.
