1. Over 5,000 persons, Sunday, decamped from their political parties to the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oviri-Ogor and Ughelli urban, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. The defectors said their decision to dump their former parties was stemmed from the purposeful representation and leadership of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
2. Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two students of the Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa State. It was gathered that the attackers stormed the area with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically before whisking the victims away to an unknown destination. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel confirmed the incident.
3. The Nigerian Air Force yesterday, denied a report that it paid N20m as ransom to bandits in exchange for an anti-aircraft gun seized from the Nigerian Army. Report had emerged on Sunday that the NAF brokered the deal as President Muhammadu Buhari was planning a trip to Katsina, his home state.
4. MTN Nigeria has compensated its subscribers with airtime and data due to the outage its consumers witnessed last Saturday. The Chief Executive Officer, MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, shared the information with subscribers on Sunday.
Toriola, via a video message posted on the company’s YouTube channel with its link sent to all subscribers of the network, apologised for the error.
5. Police have arrested and detained four of its personnel in Kogi over alleged extortion of N25,000 from a traveller and physical assault on another in a trending video. Commissioner of Police, Idrisu Dauda Dabban, disclosed this in a statement signed by the police command’s image-maker, DSP William Aya, on Sunday in Lokoja.
6. The village head of Banye in the Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State has been kidnaped. A resident of the town, confirmed that the heavily armed attackers invaded the town on Friday night and went straight to the palace of the village head where they kidnapped him together with other victims.
7.The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has chided the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the crisis in 20 state chapters where parallel congresses were held on Saturday to elect state officers of the party. The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, while reacting on Sunday to the development, said it was a clear reason why the nation had been in a disaster.
8. The Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have commenced search for Tordue Salem, a Vanguard Newspaper reporter at the National Assembly. Salem, who covers the House of Representatives, was last seen Wednesday evening in Abuja. He was then sighted around the Total Filling Station opposite the Police headquarters in Area 11, Garki.
9. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 11 persons lost their lives in a Road Traffic Crash (RTC) on Sunday. The Kwara Sector Commander, Corps Commander Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed this to newsmen in Ilorin, said that the crash occurred on Jebba-Bode Saadu road.
10. The police in Ogun State, on Sunday, confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect, Bisi Omoniyi, for allegedly hacking a 50-year-old man, Akinyemi Alani, to death. The incident occurred on Friday in Ajilete, in the Yewa-South Local Government Area of the state when Omoniyi reportedly met the deceased in the apartment of his lover, Kafayat Sakariyau.
