Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to always embrace dialogue in the quest for better education in the country. Buhari made the plea while delivering his address during the 36th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Ilorin on Saturday.

2. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday, declared one week sit-at-home protest from November 5 to November 10, to prevail on the Federal Government to release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful disclosed this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra State on Saturday.

3. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN yesterday, revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has been scheduled to formally unveil the e-Naira on Monday. A statement issued on Saturday by the CBN’s Director of Corporate Communications, Osita Nwanisobi, stated that the e-Naira is now expected to be activated on Monday by the president.

4. Following gunmen’s attack on the Abolongo correctional facility in Oyo on Friday night, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, yesterday, called for calm over the jailbreak, stating that all security agencies in the state have been put on high alert, and that the state would do everything to protect its citizens and all state and national assets. Makinde, stated this in a state broadcast aired on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) on Saturday night.

5. Against the backdrop of the clamour in some quarters for the disintegration of the country, Governor Abdulahi Ganduje of Kano State has urged the media to champion the discussion for a united and one Nigeria. He spoke at the induction ceremony of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria, BON, John Ugbe and Dr. Mansur Liman who were recently elected in Kano State.

6. The Federal Government on Saturday said that security operatives have recaptured some of the inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Abolongo, Oyo State, on Friday.
The Media Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbosola, Sola Fasure, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

7. The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria has lamented the deteriorating state of security in the country, urging President Muhammadu Buhari, to declare banditry and kidnapping as acts of terrorism. This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the third quarter meeting of the Forum held on Saturday at the Katsina State government House.

8. Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Monday Igbuya, alongside other past lawmakers, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party. This was announced on Saturday by the State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who received the decampees at Sapele Stadium.

9. The Royal Navy patrol ship, HMS Trent and her embarked contingent of Royal Marines from 42 Commando, have arrived in Lagos as part of their three-month deployment to the Gulf of Guinea. Lagos is the first port that HMS Trent is visiting in the Gulf of Guinea, and the second port the ship has visited since leaving Gibraltar earlier in October.

10. The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Oyo State Command, says 837 awaiting trial inmates escaped from the Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo Town when suspected gunmen attacked the facility. Olanrewaju Anjorin, Public Relations Officer of the command, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Ibadan.
