Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburee Bakre have been dragged to court by the family of Oluseye, Ilupeju Oke-Odo Gbagura.
The Oluseyes also dragged five others to court, including the Attorney General of Ogun, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the State Executive Council, the Egba Traditional Council and Saheed Balogun Agbaje.
They requested the State High Court to nullify the appointment of Agbaje as the new Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo.
The claimants, Prince Monsuru Akanbi Oluseye, Prince Sulaimon Allan Oluseye and Prince Gbolahan Babatunde Oluseye, in a writ of summons dated October 8, also prayed the court to set aside the chieftaincy declaration of the Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo.
It is their plea that the nomination, appointment and approval of Agbaje as the Oba of Ilupeju Oke-Odo be set aside by the court.
According to them, the appointment of Balogun as the new Oba of the town was “contrary to the customs and traditions of Ilupeju Oke Odo, Gbagura.”
The Oluseyes maintained that upon the passing of Oba Mufutau Akindele, the immediate past Olu of Ilupeju Oke Odo, “it is the turn of their family to produce the next king.”
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Government on Thursday installed Saheed Balogun Agbaje as the new Olu of Ilupeju Oke-Odo, presenting him the staff of office.
