Manchester United first-team coach, Michael Carrick will be taking over at Scottish Premier League champions, Glasgow Rangers, according to former midfielder, Charlie Adam.
Steven Gerrard left Glasgow last week to take up a new role as Aston Villa manager.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is said to be the favourite to land the job with the likes of John Terry and Frank Lampard, both Chelsea legends, also in the frame.
But former Rangers midfielder, Adam, believes Carrick is the right man to occupy the vacant position and a ready-made replacement for Gerrard.
“I’ll throw a name in the hat: Michael Carrick,” Adam told the BBC’s Sportsound podcast.
“He has been at Manchester United, a big club, good coach. It was a gamble with Steven.
“Will they go down that same route? Will they go for an experienced name? There will only be three or four people that know.”
