Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu monitored the ongoing search and rescue (SAR) at the Ikoyi building collapse site in the early hours of Wednesday.

Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, and some state officials were on his entourage.

Sanwo-Olu received updates from Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

The governor commended all responders for efforts so far and made suggestions on what could be done as the operation enters Day 3.

New media aide, Jubril Gawat said his principal and Odumosu left the scene at about1:55 a.m.

Official figures stand at 14 casualties and 9 injured persons receiving medical care at a hospital.

The 21-storey building under construction at No. 20 Gerrard Road, subsided at about 2:45 p.m. on Monday.

On Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu suspended Gbolahan Oki, General Manager, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).

The government announced that a panel of experts to investigate the tragedy would be constituted soon.
