Dr John Ogi, a senior lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Benue State University has expressed grief over the incessant abuse of innocent students in many schools across the country.
In a post on his official Facebook page, while reacting to the death of Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni Jr, Ogi called on Nigerians to be proactive by demanding Justice for students going through oppression, stressing that many are currently going through Oromoni’s kind of ordeal.
DAILY POST reports that the death of Oromoni Jnr had generated reactions from concerned Nigerians, including celebrities and politicians who are currently demanding justice for the junior secondary schoolboy.
12 years old Sylvester Oromoni was said to have been bullied and beaten by at least five fellow students and later died of injuries from the beating.
Reacting to the report, Dr Ogi called for the rescue of those who are probably going through the same ordeal in Schools across the country.
He said, “I just hate my country, we always react after the deed has been done, how many times are we going to plea justice. We have people who are alive, we wait until they die and begin to plea justice right? what happened to justice for the living.
“There are many other schools and places this nonsense is going on, we will still wait after this one to plea justice again. Lives and destinies waste every day in a nation that has no value for human life. We must be proactive to eliminate abuses honestly”.
