Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has expressed his frustration with his team’s performance after they suffered to beat Watford at Vicarage Road on Wednesday.

Tuchell said it was ‘so unusual’ for his side to fail to reach their normal high standards, adding that his team had many faults during the game.

The German boss told his post-match press conference, “That’s not us. We were absolutely not ready today for this match.

“I missed maybe to find the right approach to make my team ready. We did not cope with the pressure, with the first ball, second ball.

“We had a lot of changes but too many faults. It did not get better. The only thing we could do was hang in there and focus on the easy things. It was a lucky win.

“I see this totally as an exception from the rule. I will not insist too long on this match because it’s so unusual for us to play like this.”

Chelsea remain on top of the table with their tenth win of the season with Manchester City and Liverpool breathing down their neck.

The Blues face a tougher task on Saturday when they tackle London rivals, West Ham, who have gone three games without a win after drawing 1-1 with Brighton on Wednesday night.
