STAFF PHYSICIAN – SURGEON

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide day to day surgical care services and call coverage
- Develop a minimal access surgical services and endoscopy services

REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Specialist Qualification in General Surgery
Experience:
Five (5) year post fellowship qualification in general surgery.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Working experience in minimal access surgery and endoscopy
IT skills – proficiency in computer use and IT applications especially medical information system is essential.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Emergency medicine qualifications – BLS, ACLS & ATLS
- Effective communication skills – Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients as well as other Team members as a tool for effective management.

STAFF PHYSICIAN – CARDIOLOGIST
LOCATIONS: Lagos or Warri, Nigeria
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide regular clinical consultations and reviews in general medical duties and ambulatory care for CNL staff and eligible dependents
- Provide specialist cardiology services and care and echocardiology services
- Provide general and specialised in-patient care as needed and ‘on-call’ basis
- Attend to medical emergencies and call duties on 24 hours basis.
- Develop and implement preventive health services for the control and prevention of diseases including health promotion activities.
- Organize and coordinate effective training and continuing medical education programs /updates for medical services including safety/clinical meetings; case reports etc.
- Assist the staff physician-in-charge in the day-to-day running of the hospital and perform other duties as may be assigned by the staff physician-in-charge
- Carry out other duties as may be assigned by medical leadership or medical director.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
FWACP (Fellow of the West African College of Physicians) or FMCP (Fellow of the Medical College of Physicians), FRCP (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians) with sub-specialization in Cardiology or Equivalent Spe…t Fellowship Qualification in Cardiology.
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years post Fellowship qualification experience in Cardiology in a reputable center with emphasis on preventive cardiology.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Vast skills in echocardiography is essential
Clinical skills – Excellent knowledge and skills in specialty case management, competency in handling complex medical problems and in ensuring high standard of clinical practice.
Leadership skills – Must demonstrate ability to lead the Medical Team in patient management and decision making

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/Chevron Joint Venture has commenced Mass Deworming Programme that will cover 60,000 pupils in Ondo State.
The programme, which will cover pupils in three local governments of Idanre, Okitipupa and Owo, was flagged off at St. Paul Mega Primary School, OdodeIdanre, and witnessed by stakeholders in the local government, the State
Ministries of Education and Health, and the wife of the Ondo State
governor, Mrs. Betty Anyanwun-Akeredolu.
The programme was the second phase of the deworming exercise as the first phase was implemented in 2013 during which 80,000 pupils were dewormed in Akure North, Akure South and Ilaje Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the occasion, the General Manager Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA), Mr. Esimaje Brikinn, said the exercise was one of the initiatives through which the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture seeks to uplift the health and development of Nigerians especially the
children. Brikinn, who was represented by the Director of Government Affairs, Senator Gbenga Aluko, said that exercise, targeted at a
total of 60,000 children is designed to make them healthier as
the parasites (worm) which snapped their energies are destroyed.
“In this programme, the target children would be given safe and effective medicines produced by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Limited to eliminate infecting worms while there is also a health education
aspect to ensure that children are taught how to avoid re-infection
through personal hygiene.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony, wife of the Ondo State governor, Anyanwu-Akeredolu observed that the deworming exercise
would help grow the health status of the school children while
soliciting for proper hygienic environment among the people.
The First Lady who commended the contributions of the joint partner
venture (NNPC/Chevron) to the development of the health sector of the
state, also pleaded personal hygiene among the school pupils.
The State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Femi Agagu said the deworming
exercise would help the children to develop well and boost their
learning capabilities in the society.
”This great intervention from NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture will give each of these pupils the opportunity of a good future because the
future of a child depends on sound health and education.”
Also, his counterparts from the Ministry of Health, Dr. Wahab
Adegbenro, argued that worm infestation was a leading cause of ill health among school age children mostly in developing countries.
Adegbenro, however, solicited the need for the children to be
deworm every three months in order to improve their health wise and
growth.
A Niger Delta group, Kombot-Egbema & Gbaramatu Graduates Association, has threatened to shutdown the operations of Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) over what it tagged as alleged use of cheap labour.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by Yabrade Moses, its president, the group gave the company 48 hours to upgrade the status of its members from trainee to “permanent staff” or risk having its operations in the region shut down.
According to Moses, some of its members had been retained as trainees for four years, which it added was a plot by Chevron to continue using cheap labour.
“We undersigned for and on behalf of Kombot-Egbema & Gbaramatu Graduates Association wish to emphatically state that Chevron Nigeria Limited should within 48 hours confirm the VTP5/OTP2, VTP6 operator/maintenance trainees of Chevron Nigeria Limited as permanent staff or face a mass action that might cripple their operations in Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdom which are host to CNL.
The trainees are since overdue for conversion to permanent staff basis after 18 months, rather they are still being retained as trainees on the job as a means of cheap labour, for the past four years, which is totally unacceptable to us,” the statement read.
“The trainees should be regularized as soon as possible to avoid the inevitable danger awaiting Chevron Nigeria Limited due the company’s management nonchalant attitudes towards the reclassification of the trainees as staff, the non-intake of the 2014 awaiting batch and other crucial employment issues.
It is on record that series of letters have been written and meetings held with CNL, government representatives and security agents as regards the conversion of VTP5/OTP2 trainees and other employment issues but CNL kept mute and has instead converted those trainees termed “national” from Agbami field to permanent staff long ago leaving our indigenes on “community” angle as slave labourers.
“On this note, we are embarking on a mass action against CNL in solidarity with our brothers that are been used as cheap labour any moment from now. Except their conversion to permanent staff is confirmed and our employment deficiency addressed within 48 hours as to avert the impending action. The issue of contract extension should not be mentioned again, if CNL wants to maintain peace in their host communities of operation”, it added.
