President Buhari earlier yesterday met with President Barack
Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the Oval Office at the US White House,
the National security advisor, Susan Rice and Secretary of State, John Kerry
were also in attendance. He will also
have an audience with the US Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker, to discuss
how to improve business relations between both countries.
President Buhari will then head to a crucial meeting with
the US Attorney General, Loretta Lynch to discuss a bilateral strategy to trace
assets looted by members of the previous government of President Goodluck
Jonathan. He will be accompanied to that meeting by the Governor of Edo State,
Adams Oshiomhole, the Solicitor General of the Nigerian federation and the Permanent
Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
Later in the day, Buhari, accompanied by the Central Bank
Governor and the Acting DG of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, to meet with the
US Secretary of the Treasury, Jack Lew.
To cap the day, Buhari will have a dinner with members of
the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and The Corporate Council on Africa. They are expected to discuss ways of
strengthening business relationships between the US business community and
Nigeria, and elaborate on efforts to combat security threats.
