Honda Motor Company has begun assembling its widely popular
Sedan model of cars in Nigeria. This was revealed by the Chief Executive of the company, Takahiro Hachigo in
a public statement - his first since his appointment in June, in Tokyo Japan.
Hachigo revealed that the firm has started the building of
cars in Nigeria by an assembling section of the factory that made motorcycles
in the past. According to him, a target of 1,000 Accord Sedans annually
has been set by the company for production in its plant.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr Takahiro Hachigo
promised to step up the level of production of cars if the local market in
Nigeria grows.
The plant in Nigeria is expected to serve as a supply unit
for other African countries.
