Chefs keep hair and sweat off their faces with what’s
undoubtedly the culinary accessory of the year: the bandana. Alissa Wagner of
Dimes, in NYC, shows off its versatility. Lets see different available styles below the cut
- The Axl Rose
Simple. Classic. Clean. This is a no-fuss option that’s just
as effortless to pull off as it is cool. Fold the bandana in half to form a
triangle, then fold it over itself in about 1″ increments, starting with the
flat end, and ending with the tip. Wrap around the middle of your forehead
(don’t go too far back on your head, or you’ll look like you’re wearing a
headband), and tie a knot in the back. One thing to watch out for: Be sure the
point of the bandana is tucked away, or it’ll poke out from the wrap, right at
your forehead. Axl Rose would never be so careless.
- The Tupac
If you have long hair, put it in a ponytail or bun to keep
strays from getting caught in the bandana. Fold the bandana as described in the
Axl Rose, and then wrap it around your head, with the tips at the top, and the
bottom cradling the nape of your neck. Make sure the edges of the bandana are
behind your ears, and tie a knot jauntily at the top of your head.
- The Cinderella
We don’t care what anyone says; Cinderella was a total babe
even before her makeover. Just fold that bandana in half, place the flat edge
right at your hairline, and secure the two ends together under your hair, at
the nape of your neck. Don’t tie it too tight; loose and breezy is the look.
- The Van Zandt
A look similar to the Cinderella, but the subtle differences
are important: The bandana runs over the ears (it will cover the tops of them),
and the knot is tied over the hair, in the middle-back of your head. Tuck the
pointed end of the bandana into the knot to keep it from flopping around when
moving.
