Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has been appointed as
the new chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN). Emir Sanusi will be
formally installed as 9th Chancellor at the school's 41st convocation ceremony. Also, Inspector-General of police, Solomon Arase will bag a
honorary degree during the convocation.
Barth Nnaji, former minister of power,
will deliver a convocation lecture at the institution.
Vice-Chancellor, Faraday Orunmwense, made the announcement
on Monday at a press conference on the university’s 41st convocation. He also
explained that 64 out of 11,020 graduands, would be conferred with first class
degree, while 7,034 persons would graduate with other classes of first degrees.
Master’s degree and doctoral degree will also be awarded to
2,594 students.
