LAGOS - Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos showed his commitment to
ensuring discipline in the state when he arrested a bus driver who was driving
against traffic on Sunday, November 8.
Governor Ambode was conducting an inspection of the ongoing
construction of Ejigbo road when he spotted a driver driving against traffic.
He was promptly arrested by the governor.
The governor on Friday, November 6 warned commercial drivers
and okada riders that the state will no longer tolerate their unruly attitude
on the roads which has been the cause of serious traffic and security
challenges in the metropolis. The arrest of the erring driver was a testimony
to the governor’s commitment to carry out his warning.
Governor Ambode in a bid to get a firsthand knowledge of
security and road operation in the city conducted two hours surveillance last
week with the state commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni.
