
RIVERS STATE - Nyesom Wike, the Rivers state governor, has approved the
appointment of twelve special advisers and another set of caretaker chairmen
for the various local government councils. Some of the new appointees include Elemchukwu Ogbowu,
Barrister Chris Itamunola, Professor Atuboyedia Obianime,
Cyril Dum Wite,
Shedrack Akolokwu, Professor Israel Owate, Anugbum Onuoha and Bishop W.T. Iwor.
Governor Wike in a statement signed by his special assistant
on media, Simeon Nwakaudu, also approved the re-constitution of the state post
primary school board.
Governor Wike also approved the appointment of Franklyn
Oraye and Marshal Obuzor as senior special assistants on social media.
The swearing in of the special advisers and members of the
post primary schools board will hold Tuesday, November 10, at the executive
council chamber of the government house, Port Harcourt.

Following the appointment of the local government caretaker
committee members, the governor has sent their names to the Rivers state House
of Assembly for screening. The state House of Assembly has in turn invited the
prospective chairmen and members of the caretaker committee for the twenty
local government areas for screening and confirmation.
The acting clerk of the state House of Assembly, Mr
Standford Oba, in a statement said that the screening will be held today,
November 9, at the hallowed chamber of the assembly. The statement directed the nominees to submit thirty sets of
copies of their credentials to the office of the acting clerk of the assembly.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Rivers state chapter of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Felix Obuah, has declared that Governor Wike is
a good man.
