We expected this coming though and here it is. A set of twins have indeed defied logic by being born a year apart - after spending the same nine months in the womb. The babies Jaelyn and Luis were born to proud parents Luis and Maribel who expected two little ones to come out. But it was a surprise when little girl Jaelyn showed up on December 31, 2015 at 11.59am at the San Diego Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Centre - and brother Luis came along at 12:02 am on January 1, 2016.
The Dad Luis told our source:
"We were actually watching the clock. We wanted to see if we were one of the first ones," as the race to be the new year's first baby hotted up.
The Valencia family lives in San Diego, where Maribel is as an airport cashier and her husband is a mechanic for the Navy.
Their new additions - who join three-year-old Isabella - were born with Jaelyn weighing 4lb 15oz, while Luis weighed 5lb 9oz.
Luis added:
"[Maribel] really wanted to have the babies on the same birthday because you know later on in the years, they're going to have a little confrontation and be like, 'my birthday came first,' so it means two birthday parties, back to back."
Their Dad, Luis, called it a New Year's blessing to have two healthy children.
