Manchester City have been dealt a blow in the summer transfer after one of their major targets, Dani Alves joined Paris St-Germain on a free transfer.
After months of speculation linking the Brazilian right-back with a move to the Etihad, PSG came in at the death to seal the deal.
Alves became a free agent after Juventus released him early from his contract following one season in Italy, in which he helped the Bianconerri to the Serie A and Coppa Italia double.
According to the BBC, Alves, who has signed a two-year deal with the Parisians, opted against joining up with his former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola as City would not match the £230,000 a week he’s set to earn in France.

It is understood that sporting director Antero Henrique and his assistant Maxwell – PSG’s recently retired Brazilian left-back – worked tirelessly to land Alves and that the latter’s friendship with his compatriot played a key role in the deal.
PSG announced his arrival with a video of the player printing his name and number on the blue and red shirt.
“I’m extremely happy to sign for PSG,” Alves said.
“Believe me, I am coming to Paris to win,” said Alves, who is the 30th Brazilian to play for the Ligue 1 club.
“In recent years, I have been able to gauge the incredible growth of this club, which has become a European football powerhouse. It’s very exciting to now be part of this great project.”
The 34-year-old, who’s won over 30 trophies in his career so far, gives PSG extra experience and a winning mentality after last season’s disappointment in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
