Religious groups in the State have been called upon to always promote love and unity for sustainable development of the State.
The wife of the State Governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, made the call at Saint James Anglican Church Ichi, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, during a Church service to mark the end of this year’s Nnewi Diocesan Women’s Conference.
The Governor’s wife, who during the event received an award as Unique Mother, from the Women of the Diocese, for touching lives through her Non Governmental Organization, the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFÉ called for a total support and prayers from the citizenry to enable the present administration actualize its vision for the state.
She maintained that the Obiano administration will continue to partner the church in its efforts to transform the State, and called on Christian mothers to be alive to their responsibilities.
Earlier in a sermon, Reverend Canon Chidi Obi frowned at Christians who doubts the ability and power of God, urging them to desist from such, as according to him, nothing is impossible for God.
Addressing the congregation, the Transition Committee Chairman for Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Mr. Ikenna Ofodeme, commended the people for their support to the present administration, calling for its sustenance.
In a remark, the Chairman on the occasion, Sir Ezekiel Okeke, said the Obiano administration has brought a cordial relationship between the church and the state government which according to him has contributed immensely to rapid development in all facets of the State.
Renditions by the choir, prayers for the Governor and wife by the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Godwin Okpala, as well as presentation of an award of excellence to Chief Mrs Obiano by the Bishop's wife, Mrs Eugenia Okpala, were the highlights of the service.
