The management of 9mobile has reacted to disruption in services to its subscribers. Millions of customers have been lamenting the 9mobile’s poor call and data network.
Our source reports that in Lagos, the nation’s commercial hub, the service has been down for about a week.
The story is the same in Cross River state, where subscribers say they have been unable to use the lines.
On Wednesday, 9mobile announced a network outage in one of its data centres as the reason for the service disruption.
In a statement signed by Ibrahim Dikko, one of its vice presidents, 9mobile said “subscribers may experience some disruption with voice, SMS and data services due to this technical issue,”
Dikko said the firm’s “technical teams were currently working assiduously to resolve the issue within the shortest possible time.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused our subscribers and we thank them for their patience and understanding,” he said.
A few weeks ago, 9mobile, formerly Etisalat Nigeria, rebranded after the parent Etisalat global firm pulled out following a financial crisis.
Recently, Nigerian banks that facilitated a $1.2 billion loan made to the company agreed to an extension pending when the mobile operator finds new investors.
