The 2018 budget report by the Joint Senate and House of Representatives’ Committee on Appropriation would be laid today, Ripples Nigeria has learnt.
According to a source close to the Senate President Bukola Saraki, the report of the committee which could not be laid last week Thursday due to the cancellation of plenary to allow members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus prepare for the party’s Local Government Area congresses last weekend would be laid today (Tuesday) at the plenary.
The $8.612tn “Budget of Consolidation” having been delayed for 189 days after President Muhammadu Buhari presented it before the Joint Session of National Assembly in November 7, 2017, is the most delayed budget in nineteen years.
The budget is expected to foster growth and stability, as Nigeria recovers from a period of economic recession, consolidate on the achievements of previous budgets, and deliver on Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) for 2018 – 2020.
