The Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chairmen of all the LGAs Council of Traditional Rulers have expressed confidence in the ability of the Prof Yakubu Mahmood led INEC to deliver a credible election in 2019.
The traditional leaders said their confidence stem from the manner the Commission has been going about with the preparation for the 2019 election, especially with the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
This was contained in a communique reached at the end of a stakeholders meeting held between Enugu state council of traditional leaders and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Enugu State Office to review the state of the CVR
According to the communique signed by HR Igwe, Ambassador Lawrance Agubuzu, Chairman Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, the leaders commended INEC Leadership for its commitment to ensuring smooth registration of voters in the state.
He expressed confidence that Professor Mahmood will give Nigeria a good election in 2019 and encouraged him and The Resident Electoral Commissioner Enugu state not to relent or change.
He assured the INEC Chairman, Professor Yakubu Mahmood and entire INEC of the support of Enugu State Traditional Rulers towards achieving credible election in 2019 general election in Nigeria and Enugu State.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Emeka Ononamadu, according to the communique earlier gave a vivid account of the activities of INEC on CVR and preparation for 2019 general elections.
He noted that said so far, INEC has been faithful with its promises of conducting a credible election in 2019.
