The Peoples’ Democratic Party in the South-West has denied insinuations that it favored Senator Ademola Adeleke to emerge as its governorship candidate in Osun State during its last Saturday’s primary election in the state.
The Chairman of the PDP in the zone, Dr. Eddy Olafeso, said that every contestant at the governorship primary was treated fairly and that Adeleke emerged after amassing the highest number of votes from delegates.
According to him, the exercise took place under live television coverage and that votes were counted more than once just to be sure that there was no form of injustice.
Addressing journalists in Lagos on Friday, Olafeso said,
“The Osun PDP primaries election was one of the most transparent in recent political history. The entire electoral activity was televised live and counting was done in the presence of agents of all contesting aspirants.
The main challenger requested for a recount and this was done twice. No process can be more open than this.”
