Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has insisted that the Gunners failed to beat Southampton at the Emirates because his players had good opportunities that they did not utilize.
Arteta also said that Arsenal came out strong against Southampton but went down to ten men and had a mountain to climb again.
Two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang and Theo Walcott ensured Arsenal and Southampton played 1-1 at Emirates Stadium.
“When you can’t win it you don’t lose it. We went in with ten men against a really good side, I have to say that,” Arteta told Amazon Prime.
“In these moments, you have to take a point,” he added.
“I was disappointed with how we conceded the first goal as it was their first action that they really created.
“We both pressed really high, and we sustained attacks with good moments and good opportunities that we did not score.
“We came out really strong, but we went down to ten men and had a mountain to climb again.”
Arsenal’s next game is against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.
