Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has explained that his team defeated Southampton 9-0 in the Premier League on Tuesday night because his players moved the ball really well and quickly.
Solskjaer also provided an update on striker, Edinson Cavani’s injury after Man United’s win against Southampton.
Goals from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, Jan Bednarek (OG), Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial (2), Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes and Daniel James gave Man United all three points against Southampton at Old Trafford.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer told MUTV: “We moved the ball really well, quickly. We used the width, we had movements in behind, we had strikers who wanted to get on the end of it scoring goals – even had full-backs wanting to be on the end of it.
“It was one of those performances you once in a while get, and you enjoy. I am sure everyone enjoyed being out there in a Man United shirt. We’ve been waiting for them to show their magic and tonight was the night that they could go and enjoy.
“We haven’t had too many of them where you can sit down in the second half and enjoy the football. They enjoyed it and [there were] some good performances.”
Providing an update on Cavani’s injury, Solskjaer added, “Edinson got a bad tackle on his ankle, so he had to come off. He probably would have loved to be out there scoring goals.”
