Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has confirmed that midfielder, Juan Mata, will miss the Red Devils’ Premier League clash with Chelsea on Sunday evening.
According to Solskjaer, Mata, a former Chelsea star, will be out of action for a couple of weeks as the Spaniard aims to recover from injury.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday, Solskjaer said, “Juan will, unfortunately, be out for a couple of weeks, so he missed tonight, [Chelsea clash].”
Man United head to the game after qualifying for the Europa League last-16 with a 4-0 aggregate win against Real Sociedad.
They are currently in the second position on the English Premier League table with 10 points behind leaders Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The kick-off time for the Chelsea vs Man United match is 5:30 pm.
Recall that Mata missed Man United’s Europa League last-32 second-leg 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
Solskjaer’s side will now face AC Milan in the Europa League round of 16 next month.
