The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has urged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to embrace the fight against corruption.
Bawa made the call on Wednesday in an orientation lecture delivered on his behalf by Zonal Public Affairs Officers to the Batch A, Stream 11 set of corps members nationwide.
The EFCC chief, at Nonwa Orientation Camp in Rivers State, said corps members would serve more useful purposes to Nigeria by exposing financial crimes in their places of primary assignments.
Bawa enjoined them to become whistle blowers “by reporting acts that fail the simple test of integrity”.
“When you see something, say something; and don’t stop there, please do something”, he said.
Bawa, represented by the Head, Public Affairs, Port Harcourt Zonal Office, Dele Oyewale, invited the corps members to join the EFCC/ NYSC Community Development Group.
He said the platform offers the opportunity for an enduring relationship with the commission and other stakeholders.
The chairman appealed to them to serve as role models by shunning all forms of cybercrimes.
“There is no shortcut to wealth and fame. The fact that the rate of unemployment is high should not be an excuse to resort to crime,” Bawa added.
