1. Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will remain in detention till October 21, 2021 as Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday adjourned the case over the failure of the Federal Government to arraign the Biafran freedom fighter.
2.The Traditional ruler of Jaba, the Kpop Ham of Jaba Chiefdom in Kaduna State, Jonathan Danladi Gyet Maude, has been abducted. Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the abduction.
3. President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, travelled to the United Kingdom to participate in the Global Education Summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021-2025. The president is expected to spend two weeks in London to also undergo medical check-up. Femi Adesina, Presidential spokesman, announced this in a statement on Monday.
4. Three students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna, have escaped from their captors. A close relative of one of the students, who simply identified herself as Funmi, confirmed this to newsmen on Monday.
5. A housemate, Peace Ogor yesterday, emerged the first Head of House in the ongoing Big Brother Naija season 6, a reality TV show. Peace became the Head of House after securing the highest score in the first Head of House game.
6. The Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday adjourned the child molestation case against embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha to Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo who presided over the case, pronounced the adjournment.
7. The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, yesterday, declared that all the Assistant Inspector General of Police will be invited to account for their actions and inactions. The IGP made the remark on Monday at the decoration of 24 newly promoted Commissioners of Police.
8. Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have called on Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration by INEC, ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general election for better governance. The call was contained in a communique issued by the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mahdi Mohd at the end of the meeting in Bauchi State on Monday.
9. President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday signed the 2021 Supplementary Appropriation Bill into law. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly (House of Representatives), Umar El-yakub, revealed this while briefing State House Correspondents after the signing in Abuja.
10. Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has dragged the FG of Nigeria and the Kenyan Government to the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, over the alleged violation of his fundamental human rights by the two governments. His lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor made this known in a statement on Monday.
