Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Thursday, Pharmacist Samaila Adamu Burga as his Principal Private Secretary (PPS).
The governor had on Tuesday sent Burga’s name alongside 16 others to the state House of Assembly for approval as commissioners, but on Wednesday he withdrew the name without giving any reason for the decision.
However, in a letter he personally signed, dated 19th August, 2021 and addressed to him, Governor Mohammed announced Burga’s appointment as his PPS.
The appointment, according to the governor, was informed by the appointee’s “track record of sincerity, hard work, dedication, exemplary behaviour and above all your wealth of experience and sense of responsibility”.
While stating that the appointment takes immediate effect, the governor urged his new PPS to deploy his qualities in facing the challenges of his new office “so as to facilitate the attainment of our collective vision and goals of bringing about positive change and new lease of life to the people of Bauchi State”.
The governor then congratulated Burga on what he termed “well deserved appointment” and requested him to indicate acceptance or decline the appointment for further actions to be taken.
He then advised Burga to declare his assets to the Bauchi office of the Code of Conduct Bureau, being a constitutional requirement on or before his assumption of office.
DAILY POST reports that the new PPS to Governor Mohammed was the state immediate Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development.
He served in that capacity for two years before the governor dissolved the state executive council on 9th June, 2021.
