Arsenal hero, Paul Merson has named five favourite clubs to win the 2021/22 Champions League.

According to Merson, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are the five favourite clubs to win the Champions League this season.

Chelsea won the Champions League last season following a 1-0 victory against Premier League champions, Manchester City.

“I have gone for Manchester United as one of the top five contenders for the Champions League this season and I will explain why,” Merson wrote in a column for Sportskeeda.

“I know they were knocked out in the group stages last season, but the way they play suits Champions League football more than the Premier League.

“They counterattack as well as anyone in Europe and have a squad that has match-winners across the pitch with the additions of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

“I don’t know if Manchester United will win the Premier League title, but when you look at the way they play, they could be a force to be reckoned with in the UEFA Champions League.”

He added, “Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Chelsea” are my top five contenders for the Champions League this season.
