The lawmaker representing Ife federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Taofeek Ajilesoro has called on citizens and residents of Ife and Modakeke to sheath their swords and allow for peace.
Ajilesoro also appealed to the people of the affected community not to allow criminal elements seize any situation to cause unrest and unleash mayhem on the people.
The lawmaker in a statement which was made available to DAILY POST Monday noted that since it was an undeniable fact that as a nation Nigeria was facing security challenges, the people should allow peace to reign.
The lawmaker also appealed to the people to join hands with the Ooni of Ife and Ogunsua of Modakeke as they were working hard to ensure peace reigned in both towns.
While lauding the state government for the prompt action taken to bring the situation under control, Ajilesoro assured that security operatives were working assiduously to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
He also called on the citizens and residents of the communities affected to allow constituted security agencies to do their work and avoid taking laws into their hands.
According to him, “We should not allow evil doers to threaten our peaceful coexistence which we have been enjoying over the years.
“As we are all aware that it is only in the atmosphere of peace and love that progress and development can be achieved.”
