1. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, visited the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, in London, United Kingdom. In photos shared on Facebook by a presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, Tinubu was seen leaning on a walking stick as he posed for a shot with the President.
2. The Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom has been shut as a result of the exposure of two officials to COVID-19. In a statement titled, ‘Closure of Nigerian High Commission, London’, it was announced that the mission would be closed for 10 working days.
3. No fewer than 11 people have fled bandits’ camps at the outskirts of Sabon Birni town, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Kaduna Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed this in a report.
4. Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomole yesterday denied plotting to stage a come back to office. He also distanced himself from the leadership crisis rocking the ruling party. Oshiomhole stated this yesterday in a a statement in Abuja by his media aide, Victor Oshioke.
5. Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, says the Federal Government has commenced the pilot phase of the National Vehicle Registry project. Ahmed said this on Thursday in Abuja at a sensitisation seminar on understanding the process of VREG, adding that the pilot phase commenced at the Nigeria Customs Service Kirikiri Light Terminal.
6. A former councilor of Sabon Gida Ward, Hon. Farouq Hassan was killed by unidentified gunmen suspected to be bandits a few minutes after he arrived at his home on Wednesday night. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in the state, SP Mohammed Shehu confirmed the incident.
7. The Federal Government says it has procured over 29 million single doses of Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines at the rate of $298.5 million (over N122 billion). Executive Director/CEO of National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Faisal Shuiab, said this Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
8. The widow of former President Shehu Shagari, on Thursday, died from COVID-19 complications. In a statement signed on behalf of the family, the Sarkin Marafan Shagari, Muhammad Bala Shagari (retd Capt.), said Hadiza died at a hospital in Abuja in the wee hours of Thursday.
9. Niger commissioner for information, Alhaji Muhammed Sani Idris, who was recently kidnapped by gunmen has been released by his abductors. A family source disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday night.
10. As part of efforts to mitigate the effect of the third wave of COVID-19 infection, Lagos State government has activated 10 COVID-19 oxygen treatment and sample collection centres. Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi stated this, yesterday, while reviewing reports of operations at the centres.
