Former Chelsea goalkeeper, Petr Cech has warned Thomas Tuchel that it will be “really difficult” to retain the Champions League trophy.
The Blues won the competition for the second time ever in May.
Tuchel’s men beat Manchester City 1-0 in the final.
Chelsea also began their title defence with a narrow 1-0 win over Zenit on Tuesday night.
Real Madrid are the first team to win the European crown back-to-back in the Champions League era in 2017.
“It is really difficult to retain the Champions League because you need an element of everything going right and you need to be lucky as well.
“For Real Madrid to win it three times in a row, that was absolutely exceptional and you have to really take your hat off to a team for doing that because it’s a title that is really so hard to retain,” Cech told the club’s official website.
