Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:
1. A stray bullet from military personnel on Saturday killed a nine-year-old named Zainab Bala-Umar at Gwanki Ward, Makarfi Local Government during the ongoing local government elections in Kaduna State. Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige confirmed the incident.

2. Former Lagos State military administrator, Brig-Gen. Buba Marwa, on Friday revealed his ordeal as the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), saying that he gets death threats from drug barons on a regular basis. Addressing State House reporters after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the NDLEA boss said he was not overly concerned even though he was taking precautions.

3. Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar was in his home town in Adamawa State on Saturday to receive defectors into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking at a reception for the new PDP members in the state capital, Yola, Atiku said Nigeria made a mistake putting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power in 2015 and have a chance to remove the party come 2023.

4. The Police in Edo State, on Saturday confirmed the killing of one Mr Olajide Sowore, the younger brother of social activist, Mr Omoyele Sowore. Spokesman for the police command, Bello Kontongs, said the deceased was shot dead in Edo by gunmen in the early hours of Saturday.

5. I’m I State Governor, Hope Uzodinma said all is set for President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the State on Thursday, Sept. 9. The Governor disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, on Saturday.

6. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Local Government election at Unguwan Sarki 01 Polling Unit where Governor Nasir El-Rufai cast his vote on Saturday. The Presiding Officer, Muhammad Sani, who announced the results, of the total vote cast of 159, said the PDP polled 86 votes as against the APC’s 62 votes for the chairmanship position.

7. The Chairperson of the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum, Hajiya Hadiza El-rufai, on Saturday, explained why the forum backed the closure of schools in some states in the region. Mrs. El-rufai, who spoke with selected journalists in Abuja, said the shutdown of the school was in the best interest of stakeholders, especially the children.

8. Comedian and talk show host, Chinedu Ani, a.k.a Nedu, has reacted to allegations of domestic violence levelled against him by his ex-wife, Uzoamaka Ohiri. In a post on Instagram on Saturday, Nedu said he never assaulted his ex-wife during their marriage, adding that she was unfaithful during the relationship and brought an illegitimate child home.

9. Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has said that Nigerian-born doctors trained in Russia, Ukraine and other countries are returning home for work. Ngige said this at the two-day quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum, in Abuja.

10. Former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has complained that he has not been paid his pension entitlements for six years. Kwankwaso, in an interview with BBC Hausa, also said the state government did not build house or office for him, which is provided in a law that every former governor should be provided either an office or a house as one of his benefits.
