Premier League match officials have confirmed that Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo should have gotten a penalty against West Ham on Sunday, the UK Times reports.
Ronaldo made it 1-1 against the Hammers, after Said Benrahma put the hosts ahead at the London Stadium.
Before Jesse Lingard netted the winner for United, Ronaldo saw three penalty appeals ignored by Martin Atkinson.
The 36-year-old clashed with Kurt Zouma, but it was the incident with Vladimir Coufal that has been raised.
Atkinson was not advised to consult the VAR monitor, which meant his original decision stood.
However, referees were told at their fortnightly meeting, that a spot kick would have been a better call on the pitch.
And that Atkinson should have been asked to review the decision on the pitchside monitor.
