Simon Bako Lalong, the Governor of Plateau State has admitted that he benefited a lot from the wealth of wisdom of the late traditional ruler of the Kwararafa Kingdom in Taraba State, Dr. Shekarau Angyu Masa Ibi, Kuvyo II.

The Governor, who made this known when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the traditional ruler in Wukari Local Government Council of the State, admitted that the late Aku-Uka guided him in governance.

He said “I have learnt a lot from the late monarch who was a father to me and many others”, adding that “he constantly reminded me of the need to be fair, just, humble and peaceful in all my activities.”

Urging the Jukun nation, the State and the country at large to hold tenaciously to his legacies and words of wisdom, he noted that the late monarch “has guided me in governance where he remains passionate about unity, forgiveness, dialogue and tolerance.”

Describing the passage of the Aku Uka as “painful”, he said there was consolation by the fact that the monarch lived a fruitful and long life, where, according to him “he impacted positively on the fortunes of his people and society at large.”

Lalong who was of the view that the late Aku-Uka’s words of wisdom will forever remain indelible from the minds of those who came across him, said he “demonstrated a high sense of patriotism, peace and goodwill towards all manner of people irrespective of their backgrounds.”

Aligning with the governor, the Long Gamai of Shendam in Plateau State, Miskoom Hubert Shaldas III, also admitted that the 45 years reign of the late king was filled with achievements that ignited peace and progress to the land.

Stressing how his reign improved the lives of the Jukun people, Gamai nation, which according to him has its roots in the Kwararafa Kingdom, he said will not cease from remembering its roots.

A former deputy governor of the State, Dr. Samuel Danjuma Gani, who responded on behalf of the most senior traditional title holder in the palace, affirmed that the respect and honour accorded to the monarch in death and in life will never be forgotten by the people of the kingdom.

The Aku-Uka who passed on last Friday at the age of 84, as learnt by DAILY POST, was the chairman, Taraba State Council of Traditional Rulers.
