President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly angry over the
fracas that ensued at the federal house of representatives yesterday.
According to The News, Buhari is also angry over the
disrespect accorded the All Progressives Congress (APC) on various positions to
be filled in both chambers of the Nigerian legislature.
With both chambers announcing an adjournment till 21 July,
Buhari’s ministerial list will also have to be delayed for at least one month
or even till after the Ramadan fasting period.
The 7th Senate under Senator David Mark approved in early
June, Buhari’s request for 15 special advisers. Out of the list, Buhari has
only appointed a special adviser on media and publicity, Mr. Femi Adeshina.
Speaking through another media aide, Garba Shehu, recently,
Buhari had blamed the crisis in the senate as part of the reasons for the delay
in unveiling ministerial nominees.
Although, the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, has
described the ongoing tension in the national assembly as a disagreement that
is in the interest of Nigeria. Ekweremadu however reassured that the senate will reconvene
whenever Buhari’s ministerial list was ready.
