Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has revealed what he told Phil Foden after the England International scored the winner in the Champions League quarter-final second leg battle against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.
For the first time, Guardiola guided Manchester City to the semi-finals of the competition after a 4-2 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund.
Riyad Mahrez scored from the spot and Foden sealed the tie in a 2-1 win against Dortmund, with 17-year-old Jude Bellingham scoring what proved to be a consolation for the Bundesliga side.
After Foden scored a screamer to put the tie beyond Dortmund, the England youngster sprinted over to embrace Guardiola.
And the Spanish gaffer was asked what he told the Englishman that moment, he replied, “He found me, he ran [past] everyone and found me,” Guardiola told BT Sport after the match.
“That’s for all the club, all the people that work so hard, to achieve what we have achieved so far. I [told him] ‘well done, good shot, we go.’ ”
Pep Guardiola and his City side will now face Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain in one of the semi-finals and will hope to go ahead to win the trophy for the first time in the history of the club.
