Watford boss, Claudio Ranieri has pleaded with Manchester United to be ‘calm’ and take time to consider Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future.
Ranieri made the plea after his Watford side demolished the Red Devils in a 4-1 score line at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
Joshua King put Watford in front with a close-range finish on the half-hour mark to send the home crowd into ‘raptures.’
Sarr made it two for the Hornets’ on the stroke of half-time before Donny van de Beek came on and dragged the visitors back into the game in the 50th minute.
However, the match was put out of the Red Devils’ reach when captain Harry Maguire was sent off for a second bookable offence with 20 minutes remaining.
Then Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis both netted in stoppage time to kill off the game.
With such results, it became obvious that Solskjaer may not survive another day on Old Trafford’s hot seat as many top European news sites have already reported his dismissal.
Although the club has not released a statement regarding his sack, United have suffered seven defeats in 13 matches with the side now languishing down in seventh place, 12 points adrift of league leaders, Chelsea.
United called an emergency board meeting immediately after Saturday’s embarrassing defeat to discuss Solskjaer’s position.
“I think he must be calm and also the chairman must be calm because football is up and down,” the Watford boss told reporters at his post-match press conference.
“I understand that United can’t do up and down, but he must have the time to build his action and build his team.”
