The Jigawa state government says it has commenced the implementation of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund service at all the 279 primary Health care facilities for poor and vulnerable groups in the state.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr. Salisu Mu`azu said this at a press briefing to mark the 2021 Pneumonia Day at the state’s ministry of health in Dutse.
The Commissioner explained that under the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund, over 42,129 most vulnerable persons have been registered to access free medical services in the state.
“Also under state Health Insurance scheme, over 250,000 were registered in which more than 50% of the beneficiaries are children under five, with priority to pneumonia and child killer diseases”.
The Commissioner said the state government has budgeted N28.7b for the 2022 appropriation to help it achieve Universal Basic Health Coverage.
