One of Nigeria's highly sought after female vocalists, Waje,
has revealed that being dropped from the video of Psquare's 2008 hit track 'Do
Me', left her defeated and feeling sad.
Aituaje Iruobe best known as Waje, has revealed that her
non-appearance in Psquare's 2008 hit track 'Do Me' video off the singing duo's
'Game Over' album, devastated her.
Incase you don't know, Waje, it was, who sang the catchy
chorus and hook for the highly popular song but mysteriously, when the video
came out, an unknown lady was used in her place.
Looking back, almost seven years later, the highly respected
vocalist, who is now a household name as far as Nigerian music is concerned,
has opened up on how what should've been a career-defining moment, left her
sad.
"Honestly, I felt defeated", the 34-year-old singer told Nigerian Entertainment Today. "I felt very sad. I was yet go get my big break then; maybe appearing in the video would have helped me become popular at that time. The song was huge and the video was topping charts, I believed featuring in the video would have given me my big break at that time. But in all, I thank God I was able to do it on my own few years after", she adds.
When asked why she didn't get to appear in the video, the
'Onye' singer said, "I can't really explain what happened at that time. I
felt they contacted my record label. And you know the video wasn't shot here,
it was shot in South Africa. Maybe I was dropped because of logistics reason, I
wouldn't know".
