Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has sacked Ndubuisi Nwankwo, an engineer, as a Member of the Governing Council of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUOE) for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to All Progressives Congress, APC.
Nwankwo was a member of the Governorship Inauguration Committee set-up to usher in the administration of Governor Wike anchored on ‘New Rivers Vision’. He was later appointed a member of the Governing Council of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.
Wike felt betrayed by Nwankwo for defecting from the PDP to the APC, thinking that the Supreme Court will nullify the April 11 governorship election in Rivers State as the election tribunal and appeal court had earlier sacked Wike.
However, Wike’s mandate was affirmed by the Supreme Court which has led to the sacking of Nwankwo.
