1. A Nigerian Customs Service patrol vehicle on Monday crushed seven persons to death and wounded 14 others after losing its brake on a highway in Katsina. The Acting Controller, Katsina Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service, Dalha Wada Chedi confirmed the accident.

2. The abductors of Muhammed Sanni Idris, the Niger State Commissioner for Information, have demanded N500 million in ransom. An official of the state government made this known on Monday in Minna, the state capital, stating that the kidnappers have since established contact to make their demands known.

3. Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says no staff of the commission should remain in analogue and manual mode but all should adapt to technological innovations and creativity. He gave the charge on Monday in Lagos at the opening ceremony of a four-day capacity building for INEC’s Heads of Voter Education and Publicity (VEP) and Public Affairs Officers (PAOs) in the southern states.

4. Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have passed a vote of confidence on the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) headed by Mai Mala Buni, their Yobe counterpart. They made the commendation at a meeting to discuss issues affecting the party.

5. The Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 has fixed August 16, 2021, for second phase vaccination against COVID-19. The Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and a member of the PSC, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, said this on Monday.

6. Pere, one of the housemates in the television reality show, Big Brother Naija, Season 6, has emerged the Head of House. Pere was declared the winner of the challenge by Biggie after he defeated 22 other contestants.

7. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) on Monday, grilled the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) Mrs. Yewande Sadiku for about nine hours. She was interrogated for alleged abuse of office, bordering largely on suspicious award of contracts.

8. The embattled National Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, has vowed never to resign. The PDP Chairman gave reasons he would not resign his position in a statement signed by Ike Abonyi, his Special Assistant on Media on Monday.

9. Two convicted fraudsters, Tobilola Bakare and Alimi Sikiru have forfeited three duplexes in the Lekki axis of Lagos and N200 million cash to the Federal Government, following their prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

10. The Department of State Services has filed a remand application at the Federal High Court in Abuja, asking the court to nullify the bail earlier granted to four of the 12 detained associates of embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho. In the motion no FHC/ABJ/CS/647/2021, filed on Monday by the DSS lawyer, Idowu Awo, the secret police urged Justice Obiora Egwuatu to cancel the bail granted to Amudat Babatunde, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Oyetunji, and Bamidele Sunday.
