Sunday night (28 June, 2015) saw the big names in American music and film come out to celebrate another year of entertainment at the 2015 BET Awards. The ceremony was hosted by Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, who took part in an Empire sketch that was interrupted by Terrence Howard.


The 15th edition of the awards ceremony hosted by ABC comedy ‘Blackish’ stars, Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross was held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. The  2015 BET Awards event was opened by hip-hop act Kendrick Lamar with an energetic performance of  ‘Alright’.

British singer Sam Smith continued his hot streak at music awards shows, picking up the night's first prize for best new artist, beating out the likes of Fetty Wap and Bobby Shmurda.
Nicki Minaj brought her mom on stage as she picked up the award for best female hip-hop artist. The Weekend picked up the Centric award for "Earned It" from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
Notable performances included Diddy bringing the Bad Boy family back together by performing with Lil' Kim, Faith Evans, 112 and Mase.
Janet Jackson, the recipient of the Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual award, also performed.

The event saw Stonebwoy from Ghana beating Nigeria's Wizkid and Yemi Alade in the Best International Act Africa award category. And Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown leading the winners pack with 6 each.
